Counselling & Psychotherapy in Harrogate

My first career was in HR Management & Consultancy and this sparked my interest in people development. Later, having experienced therapy as a client myself, I went on to train as a therapist.

I've worked extensively with carers & families, including older adults and young people - both in the community and other settings, such as GP practice. I've been a bereavement counsellor (Cruse trained) and have several years experience as a therapist in the voluntary sector, with an addictions service as well as a low cost community counselling service. I was also a case manager & telephone counsellor for a 'wellbeing at work' provider.

I have a Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling & Psychotherapy and am a Registered and Accredited* Member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy - MBACP (Accred). In addition I have certificates in Mental Health Studies and Working with Couples. I have attended further training on working therapeutically with autistic spectrum conditions.

I continue to develop my knowledge and skills through attending courses and workshops and keeping up-to-date with current research. I am committed to the BACP Ethical Framework, am fully insured and hold a current DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service) certificate.

* BACP accreditation is a further quality standard for the experienced practitioner who has demonstrated high standards of competent and ethical practice.
